What is kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a gentle yet powerful form of energetic medicine. It blends techniques from Eastern and Western healing traditions to explore and resolve a wide range of physical, emotional, and energetic issues.

At its core, kinesiology uses muscle monitoring—a subtle way of asking the body what’s out of balance and how to support it. It helps uncover the deeper patterns behind symptoms and works with the body’s own wisdom to create change.

You can read more about the basics here: About Kinesiology. And if you’re curious about how different techniques come together in a session, have a look at The Myth About Kinesiology, which breaks it down in plain language.

Is kinesiology the same as energy healing?

Not quite, though they share some ground. Kinesiology does work energetically—it can shift how your body functions, help you feel more alive, and reconnect you to what truly matters. But it’s not a generic form of energy healing.

Kinesiology is more structured. It uses muscle testing to communicate with your body’s inner systems—like listening in on a secret conversation between your emotions, nervous system, and physical health. It weaves together body awareness, neurology, emotion, and energetic insight into its own unique method.

What happens during a kinesiology session?

We start with a relaxed chat—what’s going on in your life, what you’re struggling with, what matters most right now. Then you lie down fully clothed, and I use light muscle testing to tune into your body’s responses.

From there, we follow your body’s cues. Sometimes that means releasing stored emotions, calming the nervous system, or working with physical discomfort. Every session is different because every person is different.

I don’t really get what kinesiology is. Can I still book? Do I need to believe in it?

Absolutely. Kinesiology doesn’t require belief—it simply responds to your body’s current state. Many people come in unsure, curious, or even a bit skeptical. That’s totally fine. The process works by tapping into your system’s responses in real time—not by asking you to buy into a belief system.

How is this different from traditional medical treatment?

Medical care is brilliant at treating illness, diagnosing problems, and managing symptoms from the outside. Kinesiology works differently. It listens to what your body is saying from the inside.

Instead of focusing on categories or labels, we explore your lived experience—how you feel, what you sense, and what deeper patterns might be at play. It’s not a replacement for medical treatment, but it can be a powerful companion to it. Is kinesiology supported by science?

Some aspects of kinesiology—like neurological understanding and counselling techniques—are supported by science. Others, like acupressure or sound therapy, have emerging research. And some, like chakra balancing or energetic testing, sit outside the current scientific framework.

That said, many people find that kinesiology works best through experience. It’s one of those healing arts that’s better felt than explained—its results often go beyond what any single technique can claim alone.

What should I wear or bring?

Just wear something comfy and stretchy—especially if we’re working with your legs or moving around a bit. I’ve got blankets and bolsters for comfort, but if you tend to get cold, warm socks (especially in winter) are a great idea. No need to bring anything else.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends entirely on what you're seeking. Kinesiology is less about treating a symptom and more about following its trail to deeper imbalances—patterns that might stretch across your emotional, energetic, or personal history.

Some people come weekly for a time, especially when working through something intense. Others check in every month or so for regular recalibration. If you’re just starting out, I usually suggest three weekly or fortnightly sessions to build momentum. After that, you’ll have a better sense of what works for you.

Do you work with children?

Yes, I work with children, and I adjust my methods based on their age and stage:

Infants to 7 years:
Little ones can’t do muscle testing, so I work with a parent (usually mum) as a surrogate. That means I test and treat using the parent’s body as a stand-in for the child’s energy system. I know it sounds unusual—but I’ve seen remarkable results, and it’s a gentle, effective way to support kids at this age.

Ages 7 to 12:

Children in this age group usually can be muscle tested and talk about how they feel. A parent must stay in the room during the session—this helps the child feel secure and supported, and also keeps things smooth for everyone involved.

Sessions are shorter and lighter (because let’s be honest, no kid wants to lie still for 75 minutes). For this age group, I offer a flexible option: for the price of one full session, your child can have three mini sessions of about 20 minutes each. This gives them space to adjust, build trust, and get the most out of their sessions—without overwhelm. But if this format is not suitable, the surrogate work described in the previous age bracket is still an option.

Ages 12 to 15:
These in-between years can be tricky. Teens are often ready for full sessions, but their level of comfort and openness varies. I always ask parents to talk with their child first—kinesiology works best when the client wants to be involved. For the first few sessions, I require a parent in the room. Over time, if it feels right, they can wait outside. Surrogate sessions can also be an option at this age.

Ages 15 and up:
At this point, they’re nearly adults and often quite self-aware. As long as the young person is willing and curious, kinesiology can be very helpful. Everything from the 12–15 bracket applies here too—with more emphasis on autonomy and collaboration.

Can I claim through private health insurance?

Unfortunately, kinesiology hasn’t been covered by private health insurance since 2018. To keep things affordable, I offer a package of three sessions for $275 (a $25 discount). This package must be prepaid and is non-refundable once sessions have started.

What’s your cancellation policy?

You can cancel or reschedule for free if you let me know before 10am one working day prior to your appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a $30 fee—but I always consider the circumstances.  Here is more information about Terms and Conditions .

Can you muscle test for food allergies?

Muscle testing can show how your body is reacting to certain substances right now—foods, vitamins, allergens, etc.—but it’s not a diagnostic tool. Think of it more like a conversation starter with your nervous system.

When someone comes in with food sensitivities, we begin with a chat to understand their symptoms. Then on the table, I can test for reactions and use calming techniques to reduce stress in the system. Sometimes, a food that originally showed a stress response will test neutral by the end of the session. Over time, this can shift how your digestion and immunity work.

I see it as helping the nervous system “retrain” itself—like working gently with a frightened animal until it feels safe again.

I feel people’s energy strongly. I think there may be an energetic curse. Can you help?

That’s a very real experience, and it often signals something important trying to get your attention. If you’re highly sensitive to energy, it might be time to explore what’s stirring beneath the surface.

While I don’t remove curses or claim to “clear” external forces, I can help you understand what this experience might mean for you—and how to move through it toward a more grounded and peaceful place. My approach is about helping you reclaim authority over your own energy and build inner strength.

Do you do online sessions?

No, I work only in person. The kinesiology I practice relies on direct muscle feedback—not intuition, distance sensing, or reading from afar.

Touch and presence are central to how this process works. We are physical beings. Our nervous systems evolved through contact—temperature, space, light, sound, and, most importantly, connection with others. This ability to sense others—called neuroception—underpins how we feel safe in the world.

But modern life can fray that connection. We interact with avatars instead of humans, scroll instead of speaking, and sometimes find ourselves more in touch with screens than with real warmth. I believe that the physical presence of two people in a room—real time, real touch, real attention—is still irreplaceable.

So yes, you could call me old-fashioned. But I see it as a quiet rebellion against disconnection. My practice is about coming back to what’s real.

Can kinesiology help with emotional stress or overwhelm?
Absolutely. Emotional stress is one of the most common reasons people come to see me. Kinesiology can help release emotional tension, calm the nervous system, and bring you back into balance. If you’d like a deeper look at how the process unfolds, check out Feel it to heal it, where I describe the stages of emotional release and integration. And for a broader view, Kinesiology for stress relief: finding your rhythm again is a good starting point.

Is it only for emotional work? What about physical pain?
Great question. While emotional stress is a big part of what I see, many clients come in with physical pain—neck tension, back pain, or long-term muscular issues. Energetic kinesiology can be very effective here, even though the techniques are gentle and non-invasive. Read more in Can Energetic Kinesiology Help Physical Pain?. This article is also available in Russian: Может ли энергетическая кинезиология помочь при физической боли?

I’ve tried other things that didn’t work. What makes this different?
Kinesiology isn’t about treating symptoms—it’s about tuning into your body’s own feedback to find the root of the issue. That’s why even after trying other therapies, people often find kinesiology gives them a different kind of shift. I go into this a bit more in The Truth About Kinesiology: What You Won’t Hear in a 5-Minute Pitch, and for Russian speakers, there's  Энергетическая кинезиология: То, о чём не расскажут за 5 минут

Do you offer sessions in Russian?
Yes, I do. I’m fluent in Russian and happy to offer sessions in either English or Russian, whichever feels more comfortable for you. You can also read more about me in Russian here.

Do you work with addiction?

Yes, I do—but perhaps not in the way you might expect.
Addiction isn’t just a bad habit or a matter of willpower. It’s a behaviour that has meaning and purpose, often serving a role that’s not fully understood or consciously felt. People usually want to quit when the cost of the habit outweighs the benefits… but the tricky part is, there are real benefits. Sometimes they’re hidden from view—like two parts of you working at odds: one carrying the weight, the other escaping into relief. Like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, they rarely get to meet and talk.

My job isn’t to trick your subconscious into giving up the habit. I don’t use force or bypass your awareness. Instead, kinesiology helps build a bridge between those inner parts so they can begin to work together.

If you’re curious, determined, and ready to explore what’s behind the behaviour, this kind of work can be deeply supportive. What I often see is that when people start feeling more empowered, optimistic, and connected to themselves, the need for numbing or distraction naturally starts to fade.

Do you do Brain Integration?

Yes, I use Brain Integration techniques regularly in my sessions.

Brain Integration is a set of kinesiological procedures designed to help your brain function more smoothly—especially under stress. It can support things like reading, writing, maths, memory, word-finding, focus, and staying calm in high-stakes situations (hello, school presentations). I often work with children and adults who want to boost their learning capacity or improve academic performance.

But Brain Integration isn’t just for the classroom. It also helps with relationships, parenting, emotional regulation, and being able to hold your centre when life presses your buttons. In short—it’s about helping your brain and body communicate more clearly, so you can respond to life with more ease and confidence.

In fact, I include brain integration tools in most sessions, especially when we’re working with stress or emotional overwhelm.
