what is kinesiology?

Kinesiology in Beaconsfield, Fremantle — Holistic Therapy for Balance & Wellbeing

A gentle, integrative way of working with the body, emotions, and meaning Kinesiology is often described as “muscle testing” - but the way I practise it is far more than that.
It is a therapeutic space where the body and the mind are both invited to speak, to unwind, and to reorganise themselves at a deeper level.

Every person arrives with their own story: sometimes a clear problem, sometimes just a quiet sense that something inside is not quite right. My work is to help you understand that “something,” not as a symptom to be fixed, but as a message from your inner core asking for attention, understanding, and care.

What I do NOT do

How often do people come for a session?

Is this the right approach for you?

A therapy that brings body and mind together

The approach I use weaves together:

  • Body work and counselling — to help you understand the emotional meaning behind physical tension, pain, or inner pressure.

  • Energetic balancing — acupressure, light touch techniques, sound frequencies, or stimulation of specific points on the body.

  • Muscular-skeletal system work - difficult experiences and heavy emotions are not just in the mind, they affect posture, movement, coordination, balance and motivation to literally move forward in life. Sometimes, emotional healing involves shifting these feelings not only from the mind but from the muscular system.

  • Brain and nervous system work — to release old stress patterns and restore healthier behavioural and emotional responses. Specifically, I use methods of Neurological Kinesiology and techniques developed by the founder of LEAP (Learning Enhancement Acupressure Protocol) Charles Krebs Brain Integration

  • Core beliefs work — exploring the deeper stories that shape your reactions, relationships, and sense of self.

  • Inner-child and early-life repair — gently addressing the emotional imprints formed long before you had words for them.

This combination allows for a kind of integrative healing that is not only “relaxing,” but clarifying and reorienting — the mind understands more, and the body softens its grip.

How I work

My sessions are individually designed, deeply focused and are conducted at a pace suitable for each client. I listen to your words, to the tone underneath them, and to the way your body holds or releases tension. Muscle testing helps identify where your system is struggling and what it needs to restore balance.

A session is usually a mix of:

  • gentle conversation

  • identification of emotional stress patterns

  • work with the body (acupressure points, muscle activation, breath, sound)

  • insight-oriented reflection

  • integration time

Many people describe the experience as revealing, calming, relaxing and insightful.

What people often notice after a few sessions

Everyone changes in their own way, but some consistent patterns appear:

  • Clarity returns — situations that used to feel overwhelming become manageable.

  • Inner pressure reduces — life is still busy, but it no longer crushes you.

  • Emotional steadiness grows — people feel less reactive and more grounded.

  • Unexpected capacities reappear — creativity, playfulness, humour, ease with family.

  • Body symptoms improve — menstrual pain, shoulder and back tension, immune reactivity, skin issues, digestive stress and more.

  • A shift in priorities — when emotional stability is restored, a new sense of direction naturally emerges.

These changes usually happen gradually, as the system rebuilds strength and coherence.

What this work can help with

Rather than listing diagnoses, I prefer to describe real situations from practice (shared anonymously). These examples tend to say more than any neat category ever could.

Chronic pain with emotional roots
One client waiting for hip-replacement surgery regained enough mobility and comfort to walk freely again. Not because we reversed the joint degeneration — that’s not possible — but because we worked through a lifetime of grief and self-minimising that had been locking her whole system in tension.

Post-breakup collapse and hormonal imbalance
Another client arrived after a traumatic separation, feeling exhausted, unwell, and emptied of confidence. As emotional repair took place, her health stabilised, her energy returned, and she rebuilt meaningful relationships within her family. The inner healing created the outer changes.

Long-term anxiety without a clear “story”
Some clients never use the word anxiety. They simply say, “I can’t switch off.”
Through sessions, they rediscover comfort, pleasure, steadiness — that sense of being at home in their own body again.

A nervous system stuck in ‘high alert’ after a traumatic event
Sometimes the mind understands what happened, but the body hasn’t let go. Tight muscles, shallow sleep, hyper-vigilance, oversensitivity — the stress pattern keeps looping.
Working directly with the nervous system and integrating the experience on a somatic level brings a deep, lasting release.

It’s impossible to list every scenario I work with, but I hope this gives you a sense of the territory: supporting the integration of difficult experiences on both emotional and physiological levels. When the mind relaxes, the body can heal. And when the body settles, the meaning-making process becomes clearer and kinder — so the improvements often appear in several areas at once.

What I Do Not Do

Because kinesiology is not a regulated field and can be practiced in many different ways, it’s important to be clear about the boundaries of my work — what I don’t offer, and why. This protects both of us and ensures you receive safe, grounded, ethical support.

I do not make, test, or confirm medical diagnoses
Muscle monitoring helps identify areas of stress or imbalance, but it does not produce objective, scientifically verifiable data. My work is centred on helping you explore your inner experience — your sensations, feelings, beliefs, and meanings.
Energetic Kinesiology is not a medical model, and it is not meant to compete with scientific diagnostics. If you need a diagnosis, your GP or specialist is the right person to see.

I do not predict the future
My entire approach rests on a simple belief: your future is yours to shape.
I can help you understand what’s happening inside you right now — emotionally, physically, energetically — and strengthen the inner resources that guide your choices. But I can’t tell you what will happen, or what “should” happen. That’s your unique path.

I do not muscle-test major life decisions
From time to time, people ask me to muscle-test which option is “right” — a job, a partner, a home, a direction. This assumes that life’s choices can be neatly divided into “correct” and “incorrect,” which is rarely true.
Often the option you want most is also the one that triggers the most stress — because it stretches you, or touches old wounds. What I can do is help you understand what feels challenging, why it feels that way, and what inner strength or alignment you may need to move forward with clarity.

I do not prescribe supplements or advise on medications
Although nutritional kinesiology is part of my training, it does not make me a nutritionist or medical practitioner.
My role is to work with the energetic and emotional layers of health, not to recommend specific supplements or comment on medication.
For example, if you have iron deficiency diagnosed by a doctor, I can explore how that deficiency interacts with your stress patterns, energy regulation, and coping strategies — and many clients find their symptoms ease as their whole system becomes more balanced. But I cannot remove or alter a diagnosis; that requires medical testing by qualified professionals.

How often do people come for sessions?

One session can feel beautiful and relieving — but it rarely creates lasting change.
This work unfolds best over time, because emotional patterns need repetition, reinforcement, and support as they shift.

For example:

  • In a crisis: weekly sessions help stabilise the system and prevent overwhelm.

  • When rebuilding after the crisis: every 2–3 weeks gives time for integration and steady emotional strengthening.

  • When life becomes easier: sessions become less frequent, used for maintenance or deeper inner development.

Think of it like tending a garden — not a one-off clean-up, but gentle, regular care that allows the whole system to thrive.

Is this the right approach for you?

People who benefit most from this work usually say:

  • “I want to understand myself better.”

  • “I’m tired of coping. I want to actually heal.”

  • “My body is telling me something… I just don’t know what.”

If this resonates, this approach may be a good match for you.
